Magentis auto-box cable requires check

Wednesday, 30 March 2011

  • Possible faulty connection needs to be inspected or replaced
  • Only 87 Magentis affected
  • Cars built between 2005 and 2007

A very small number of Kia Magentis models are being recalled for an inspection of the cable connector in their automatic transmissions.

Kia Motors (UK) Ltd., is contacting the owners of just 87 Magentis models built between 2005 and 2007 that were sold in the UK with this specific automatic transmission.

Kia's commitment to on-going safety development research led to the discovery that in some cases the cable controlling the automatic transmission selector when placed into "Park" mode will not actually engage and that could lead to the vehicle rolling forwards or backwards if the parking brake was also not engaged.

Kia Magentis Auto owners affected are being invited to take their vehicle to a Kia dealer where the cable will be inspected and if it is not properly engaging then it will be adjusted in order that it does so.

The inspection and any required work will be conducted free of charge.
