Kia cee'd makes a stunning debut in 2010 J.D. Power survey

  • Kia cee'd ranks 4th overall on its J.D. Power survey debut
  • Kia cee'd tops the 'Lower Medium Car' category
  • cee'd range priced from £11,295 to £17,315 OTR

The Kia cee'd achieved a stunning debut result of 4th overall in the 2010 J.D. Power and Associates/What Car? Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS), with a score of 83.8 per cent, finishing just behind luxury vehicles from Lexus and Jaguar.  The cee'd also topped the ‘Lower Medium Car' segment ahead of vehicles such as the BMW 1 Series and the Škoda Octavia.

Designed and manufactured in Europe the cee'd was the first model to benefit from Kia's recent major quality offensive.  The Soul urban crossover, Venga B-segment MPV and Sorento SUV, all launched since the cee'd, have also been part of this excellence programme.  Kia is confident that these, and future, models will enhance its growing enviable reputation for quality over the coming years.

Kia demonstrated its commitment to quality by launching the cee'd, in 2007, with a seven year warranty as standard.  The entire Kia range is available with a seven year warranty since 1 January 2010.

Commenting on the result, Steve Fowler, Group Editor of What Car? said: "This is a superb result for Kia. The cee'd's fourth place is seriously impressive given the strength of the opposition, while securing top spot in the lower medium car category (ahead of some traditional J.D. Power high flyers) is a clear indication of how the newer Kia products are providing just what customers want."

"Kia's 7-year warranty is one of the reasons British motorists are drawn to the cee'd," said John Humphrey, Senior Vice President of global automotive operations for J.D. Power and Associates. "The warranty provides buyers peace of mind about the ownership experience and reinforces Kia's commitment to build quality cars.  The results of the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS) show that Kia is delivering on the quality promise and the resulting low maintenance costs.  By delivering exactly what UK buyers want and expect, the Kia cee'd is certain to generate a satisfied and loyal group of owners."

Michael Cole, Managing Director at Kia Motors (UK) said: "The cee'd has played a significant part of our phenomenal growth over the last few years so we're pleased to see that our customers rate it so highly.  Our growing dealer network is constantly improving the service it delivers to our customers so I'm confident we'll continue to rank highly in future surveys."
